Centre 32 is open for business. Even though our kids can’t attend in person we continue to deliver our objectives of Education for our Kids, and Pastoral Care for them and their families. How we do this is continually evolving due to COVID19 constraints.
Most notably, our kids have switched to online learning for the last seven months, attending their public school and Transform classes via Zoom or Telegram. We have all learned a lot about using technology and doing things differently to keep engaged and connected!
We have developed a whole new curriculum which includes lessons in music and creative arts and fun competitions. Kids especially love receiving letters from sponsors which we read to them and their families.
We have also increased Pastoral Care activity for our kids and the local community. Staff are in daily contact with Kids and their families to make sure they are okay. We further support those most at need in our Transform Family and Local community by providing food packs, through our Operation Lighthouse Program.
There are some positive changes on the horizon. The Cambodian Government is rolling out a staged reopening of Schools, with limits on numbers in line with social distancing requirements. This means 50% capacity for our Centre, so we’ve developed a hybrid model of online and face-to-face learning. We are busy preparing and praying for our Centre to meet the criteria to begin welcoming our kids back. One requirement is vaccinations for our kids, which they are excited about.
Thank you so much for supporting us in our work to transform the lives of our kids and the Nation of Cambodia.
