Kennedy students can combine a variety of courses and programs to achieve the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Senior school options include ATAR courses of study, General courses of study, Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and Workplace Learning.
In striving to achieve the WACE, students complete one of two course options:
- WACE courses to achieve an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) to enter university.
- A program incorporating WACE courses, Vocational Education and Training (VET) or Workplace Learning to enter university or TAFE or the work force.
Staff in the senior years will assist students in their decision-making process by providing the information and support needed to select and pursue their chosen pathway.

The VET in Schools Program allows a student to gain a nationally recognised qualification along with workplace experience and skills, while at school. Qualifications are available to Year 11 and 12 students from a range of industries.
The VET system and the education system are distinct but complementary. The VET sector is industry-driven with qualifications that are directly linked to specific jobs. A VET qualification indicates to employers that the applicant has demonstrated the skills required for the job at an industry standard. Qualifications that students can access whilst in Year 11 and 12 are driven by the current and future demands of the workforce.
