Read ‘n’ Feed: Nurture your mind, READ!

This year Champions Read started off with all the College reading in our first Extended Form for the term. Walking around the College to take photos at this time there was an atmosphere of calmness and reading was happening everywhere! Later that morning we had authors, Cristy Burne and Denis Knight, present to our Year 7 and 8 students, plus they ran a mini writing workshop for a select group of avid writers.

Each week we have the “Guess the book in a jar” competition. We also ran an Edible Book Cupcake contest and we have over 20 fabulous entries. Congratulations to our winners Layla Britza, Allegra Fagan and Olivia Smith, who all won Beedawong vouchers. Sienna Lily, Elish Murray and Freya Brooks received honorable mentions.

Our annual Champions Read Dress Up Day was another success, it is a day where students (and staff!) can come dressed as their favourite book characters. The parade was held at recess and MC’d by our 2023 Student Executive and Research and Study Centre student librarians, Dulaj and Aimee. The Research and Study Centre staff all came as characters from the Rangers Apprentice series. Congratulations to the Maths Learning Area for winning, they looked fabulous as characters from Animal Farm, and congratulations to Isobel Marillier and Jeremiah Chan our major student winners who came dressed as Loki from Loki book series.

Here at Kennedy Baptist College we love reading and Champions Read in Term 4 is a great way to celebrate that.
