They will develop a broad understanding of the world in which we live, and how people can participate as active and informed citizens in the 21st century.
Mathematics
Kennedy’s Mathematics Curriculum provides students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge in:
- Number and Algebra
- Measurement and Geometry
- Statistics and Probability
The curriculum focuses on developing increasingly sophisticated and refined mathematical understanding, fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills. These proficiencies enable students to respond to familiar and unfamiliar situations by employing mathematical strategies to make informed decisions and solve problems efficiently.
At Kennedy, we appreciate the power of mathematical reasoning and encourage students to learn and apply their mathematical understanding creatively and efficiently. We want your child to develop a love of learning with the ambition to succeed and the determination to persevere, all in the pursuit of personal excellence.

Science
Science is the systematic study of the biological, physical and technological worlds. It is a dynamic, collaborative and creative human endeavour arising from our desire to make sense of the world.
The Science Curriculum at Kennedy Baptist College will help your child to develop an understanding of important science concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, the contribution of science to our culture and society and its applications in our lives.
During their studies, your child will develop a solid foundation of:
- Biological Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Earth and Space Sciences
- Physical Sciences
Kennedy students have the opportunity to expand their curiosity and willingness to explore, question and speculate about the world in which we live. Students also develop an understanding of, and ability to use a range of scientific enquiry methods, while developing their communication skills as they justify ideas and debate scientific arguments and claims.
Technologies
Technologies enrich the lives of people and societies globally. The Western Australian Curriculum states that:
“Society needs enterprising students who can make discerning decisions about the development and use of technologies, develop solutions to complex challenges and contribute to sustainable patterns of living”
Kennedy’s Technologies Curriculum describes two distinct but related subjects:
- Design and Technologies
- Digital Technologies
During Design and Technologies, your child will use design thinking and technologies to create solutions that address the needs of society. Students are supported and encouraged to develop an innovative mindset as they investigate, design, plan, manage, create and evaluate solutions.
The Digital Technologies Curriculum focuses on the increasingly digital world in which we live. The curriculum will prepare your child to make informed decisions about the role, impact and use of technologies in his/her life and across society.
A deep knowledge and understanding of information systems will also enable your child to be a creative and discerning decision-maker when evaluating, managing and using data, information, processes and digital systems to meet their needs.
Research and Study
Kennedy Baptist College has a strong commitment to reading, study and research. Our Research and Study Centre offers an extensive collection of resources and books, with the support of teaching staff.
A study skills program is taught in Year 7 and across other year groups as required. If your child requires further assistance, individual tutoring is also available.
Various activities are offered at the Research and Study Centre, including Book Club, study skills tuition and a continually evolving Maker Space program. Encouraging regular reading is an important part of our job. The Research and Study Centre runs reading programs, in collaboration with the English Teachers, to all students in Year 7 to 10.
The Research and Study Centre is open from 7.45am to 4.15pm every day.
Kennedy also provides Christian Education as part of the Pastoral Care Program and extracurricular activities.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
The College utilises high-capacity internet services and wireless infrastructure to effectively access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning areas. With personalised support from our Information and Communication Technologies team, we promote a Bring Your Own Device Program, where students can choose the device that best suits their personal learning style.
