Our Specialist Programs have been established to provide your child with the opportunity, ability and confidence to challenge themselves in a nurturing environment.

Specialist Sports

Our Specialist Sports Programs have been established to assist talented student athletes to achieve at the highest level of performance in Basketball or Cricket.

Basketball

The Specialist Basketball Program aims to develop the basketball skills of students to their fullest potential. Students are provided with a range of opportunities to grow and excel in an environment that caters to their abilities, allowing individuals to maximise their development and take their game to the next level.

Andy Stewart is the Head Coach of the Kennedy Specialist Basketball Program. He is the current Head Coach of Perth Lynx, the Australian women’s professional basketball team, and former Perth Wildcats Assistant Coach of five years.

Cricket

The Specialist Cricket Program, developed in partnership with Elite Cricket Training and Athlete X, offers Kennedy students the opportunity to gain exposure to professional coaching, elite facilities and a variety of opportunities to help them maximise their potential. During the year students will have access to state of-the-art indoor facilities at Elite Cricket Training, where they will be able to utilize the ProBatter bowling machine and Merlyn Spin bowling machine. Students will all take part in a strength and conditioning program conducted by staff at Athlete X Gym.

Withdrawal from the Specialist Sports Program

Specialist Sports Program withdrawal may take place after the end of the initial probation period or at the end of the school year. The following form may be used to withdraw your student from either of our Specialist Sports Programs.

Music Programs

Instrumental Music Program

Nurturing a love of music, Kennedy students have the opportunity to learn one or more instruments during College hours. Our highly trained and experienced music tutors will support your child throughout the development of their musicianship, encouraging them to excel in their chosen field.

Instruments include:

Ensembles

All students enrolled in the Instrumental Program will join an ensemble of their choice as they reach the appropriate level of performance. There are many opportunities for students to perform and showcase their talents alongside their peers, including:

  • Contemporary Band
  • Fusion Band
  • Kennedy Orchestra
  • Percussion Ensemble
  • Production Band
  • Specialist Guitar Ensemble
  • Stage Band
  • Vocal Ensemble
  • Year 11 and 12 Music Students’ Band

There are performance opportunities for all of these ensembles throughout the year, including concerts, assemblies and other events such as the College Open Day.

Kennedy Enrichment and Extension Program

In keeping with Kennedy Baptist College’s mission of “providing educational opportunities of excellence in a Christian context and addressing the needs of individuals for lifelong learning”, the College offers a selective entry academic extension program for Year 7 students.

The purpose of the Kennedy Extension and Enrichment Program (KEEP) is to provide an environment where academically advanced students can be challenged and extended to attain the highest levels of excellence. Alongside peers who share similar aspirations, abilities and interests, students in KEEP are taught by educators with expert skills and knowledge for this particular program.
