What a beautiful morning celebrating the wonderful mothers we have in our College community! It was a morning full of food, gifts, games and LOTS of talking! You can guarantee chatting when you have a room full of loving mums.
On Thursday 8 May, we had the opportunity to serve our Kennedy community by putting on a scrumptious breakfast for 150 of our mothers. The ladies excitedly entered the doors to a setting of long tables, floral arrangements, gifts and the sweet sound of coffee machines hard at work.

Suzanne Warwick, the newest member to our Chaplain team, put on an engaging game of ‘Purse Bingo’ where everyone got into groups of four to rummage through their bags or purses and see if they collectively had everything on the card. It was a fun ice breaker to encourage the ladies to work as a team and create new relationships within our College community. We saw some fascinating trinkets, from the everyday token of keys and wallets to food items, band-aids and fidget toys. While no team managed to get all 25, we had a two-way tie with an impressive effort of 21 different items in both teams.

After all the excitement (and noise) the mums got to dig into a beautiful buffet catered by our dedicated Beedawong staff, from yogurts to croissants, hashbrowns and juice, nobody was left hungry! We then had the delight of hearing from an amazing mother Anna Rodgers, an active Mount Pleasant Baptist Church member and the Chaplain at Melville Senior High School. Anna took us through a journey of her life and the challenges she has faced throughout motherhood.

Rather than anticipating the struggles of motherhood before having children, Anna encouraged us to embrace the everyday blessings of being a parent. Whether you’re the kind of mum who kisses their child goodbye every morning, or who puts off the deep clean of their child’s bedroom, motherhood is a beautiful gift given by God.
Thank you, Anna for reminding us of the blessings of motherhood and it’s importance in our lives.
