Champions Read 2025 – Book An Adventure!

Over the past three weeks, our students and staff have embarked on a reading adventure like no other! This year’s Champions Read theme, Book an Adventure, inspired a variety of fun and inventive activities—from our “Guess the Book in the Frame” challenge to the popular “Pets Caught Reading” photo competition for students and staff to join in.

Whole-school reading during Extended Form kicked off in week 2, and students have since continued to log their reading-for-pleasure minutes with their English Teachers, earning House Points along the way. The RASC also transformed into an adventure hub, offering an escape room challenge to “Find the Lost Mummy,” a dress-up photo booth, and our much-loved book character Dress-Up Day Parade.

The costumes were fantastic! Ranging from a large group of Year 11s coming as ‘Little Lunch’, an incredible effort from the staff in their learning areas, and ‘Where’s Wally’ characters scattered throughout the school. Each group and individual costume took the stage to present themselves to the judges and a huge crowd of staff and students. The winners were then announced in different categories, with the student group of ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ taking out first place in the best dressed group, and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ winning the individual costume award.

Top performing Form and English classes have been celebrated throughout, and the winning House will be announced at next week’s assembly. Thank you to everyone who joined in the adventure—books truly take us to all kinds of places!
