College Community Service Awards to Year 12 Students

Each year the College presents Community Service Awards to our Year 12 students to recognize the contribution of students both to the College and the wider community. These include the Long Tan Award, the Ampol Best All-Rounder Award, the Sportsperson of the Year, and the Community Leadership Award.

The Long Tan Award is sponsored by the Australian Defense Forces and recognises a student who demonstrate leadership, teamwork, positive values, problem-solving, resourcefulness and clear communication. Our award was won by Carie Breytenbach. This was presented by special guest Wing Commander Graham Williams representing the Royal Australian Air Force.

The Ampol Best All-Rounder Award is presented in recognition of an outstanding student achievement in the following areas: sport, academia and Community Service. Congratulations to Zac Reed who was the winner having represented the College in both Athletics and Cross Country to an exceptional level, in maintaining excellent grades, and completing community work both at the College through the 11/7s Mentor Program and also internationally as part of the Transform Cambodia Trop Team.

Dokey Hoogenboezem won the Kennedy Baptist College Sportsperson Award through demonstrating sporting excellence. He represented the College in cricket and mixed netball. Dokey displayed personal attributes that include being a team player, disciplined, committed, competitive with a strong work ethic, and being a positive influence on his peers. He was a recipient of an ACC Letter Award – the first cricketer to receive this award.

Our Community Leadership Award recognised outstanding Community Service and was won by Emma Groeneweg who was a 11/7s Mentor, as well as a member of the first group to visit the Kennedy Transform Centre in Cambodia. Emma contributed positively to the local community through Scouts and conservation centres.

All our winners are outstanding students and their names will be displayed on our Kennedy honor boards located in the College Auditorium.
