Creativity and Collaboration: Cross-Curricular Highlights from Year 7 & 8

As the school year draws to a close, our Year 7 and Year 8 students have been engaged in exciting, hands-on activities that combine various learning areas. These activities not only strengthen classroom knowledge but also encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

Year 7: Around the World in 7 Days

Our Year 7 students embarked on a unique challenge called ‘Around the World in 7 Days’. Across their Maths, English, Science and Humanities classes, students worked in teams of three to complete a variety of curriculum-based activities ranging from revision, application to extension tasks.

Designed as a competition, the challenge kept spirits high with prizes for the top three teams and incentive rewards throughout the week. The competition was fierce this year, with many teams earning over 3,000 points. Congratulations to our top three teams!

1st: Isabelle Gerhard, Ella Johnston and Indigo Gillam

2nd:  Karas Ibrahim, Zoe Moore and Caleb Teoh

3rd: Jasmine Van der Wilk, Lucy Groom and Danica Winoto.

Year 8: Trashformers

In the final two weeks of Term 4, Year 8 students participated in Trashformers, another innovative cross-curricular project in which they upcycled everyday items into functional products and created eye-catching posters to promote them. From shower caps turned into night lights to mint tins transformed into sharpeners, the creativity was inspiring!

Year 8: Shark Tank Incursion

To cap off the term, Year 8 English classes hosted a Shark Tank style incursion. Students pitched their product ideas to a surprise guest, Nathan Baws, an alumni of Shark Tank Australia

Nathan praised the student’s creativity, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial potential, noting that the presentations exceeded expectations and showcased skills that could shape future careers.

These activities highlight the power of cross-curricular learning where knowledge meets creativity and students discover how their ideas can make a real-world impact.

Well done to all involved!
