About Enrolment

Kennedy Baptist College has a ‘non-discriminatory, open enrolment’ policy, welcoming applications for enrolment regardless of race, gender, religion or ability. Affiliation with a church is not a prerequisite for enrolment, however, students and parents must recognise that the College teaches the required curriculum while maintaining a Christian ethos and accept that teachers interpret knowledge from a Christian worldview.

The aim of the Enrolment Policy is to:

  • Ensure admission to the College is fair, transparent and non-discriminatory.
  • Explain selection criteria.
  • Provide information about the enrolment process.
  • Ensure parents/guardians are aware of their enrolment obligations when entering into an enrolment contract.
  • Ensure the College meets its legal obligations.

We accept all registrations of interest to enrol. Registration does not guarantee a place at the College. All registrations are assessed against the enrolment selection criteria and priority is given to:

  1. Siblings of enrolled students and graduated Alumni.
  2. Children of staff.
  3. Date of registration.

Prospective students and families must also:

  • Be committed to engaging in academic programs and demonstrate enthusiasm to participate in College activities.
  • Understand and support the College’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Attend an interview

The final decision for any offer of placement is at the discretion of the Principal.

If parents/guardians have knowingly withheld information relevant to the registration and enrolment process, the Principal reserves the right to refuse or terminate enrolment.

Year 7 is the entry year level. We will consider registrations for entry into other year levels if places are available.

The five (5) stages of the enrolment process are:

  1. Registration of interest.
  2. Submitting documents for interview.
  3. Enrolment interview.
  4. Offer of placement.
  5. Payment of enrolment deposit.

Click here for the detailed process.

The position is confirmed once the Enrolment Contract has been signed and returned to the College, and the enrolment deposit has been paid.

An offer of placement is accepted by parents/guardians by signing an enrolment contract for your child and paying the enrolment deposit. The enrolment contract sets out the terms and conditions of enrolment with the College including payment of fees and charges.

  1. Registration – a non-refundable fee of $50 is required per registration (to be paid immediately on completion of the Registration Form).
  2. Enrolment deposit – a non-refundable and non-transferrable enrolment deposit is required upon acceptance of a placement offer.
  3. Please click here for fees and charges for International student enrolments.
  4. For all current enrolment fees and charges please see the Fees and Charges Brochure.

As the number of registrations often exceeds the number of places available, a waitlist is developed from the registration list after offers have been made. As vacancies become available those on the waitlist will be invited for an interview and may be offered a place if they are still interested in a place.

Children will remain on the waitlist until the College is advised by parents/guardians for their child to be removed or does not confirm to keep their child on the waitlist. If a parent/guardian wants to revoke that decision after confirming with the College, your child will be reinstated as at the date that you contacted the College.

The College is not obliged to make a place available to prospective students because they are on a waitlist.

If a place is offered to your child, the offer applies only to that year level of entry; it does not apply for a later entry year level. For example, if the College offers a prospective student a place at the College starting in Year 7, but the parents/guardians decide to defer their child’s entry until Year 8 the offer cannot be deferred to be taken up at the later entry year level.

In these circumstances the College will put the prospective student’s name on a waitlist for their preferred year of entry. The decline of offer date will become their new application date. Offers for the new entry year will be made based on the revised application date for enrolment and position on the waitlist.

Our College has been established specifically to provide a Christian education. Prospective students enrolling at the College are not required to have a commitment to the Christian faith, however they are enrolled at the College with the understanding that they will engage in the Christian program of the College.

Christian values and worldview will be integrated into all aspects of College life, including the curriculum. Prospective students of any or no religious affiliation are eligible to enrol at the College.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that prospective students with a disability may seek admission or apply to enrol on the same basis as a prospective student without a disability.

If your child has special educational needs or a disability, to provide the best education and care for your child, we will need information about:

  • Their educational needs.
  • Their medical needs.
  • Whether they have a diagnosed disability or a medical or health condition.

The College will assess the information and how the College may be able to support your child’s needs.

Please see the College’s Privacy Policy and Standard Collection Notices in relation to information collected during the registration and enrolment process.

In accordance with the Family Law Act, each parent has the right to receive information regarding their child, unless a court has ordered otherwise.

The College will communicate with both parents/guardians by way of the contact details provided to the College.
