Eternity

Easter can mean so many different things. It can mean chocolate eggs, scavenger hunts, people dressed up as giant bunnies or the beginning of the school holidays! During our Easter Services, our community discovered that Easter can also mean eternity.

This was the essence of Principal Mr Mark Ashby’s message to our families, and he shared with us the story of a man called Arthur Stace, who is famous for writing the word Eternity across Sydney more than half a million times between 1932 to 1967. After his death, the same word was written one last time across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2000’s New Years celebrations.

A rare photo of Arthur Stace – "Mr. Eternity".

While this was an extraordinary tale about a single word, Mr Mark Ashby explained the connection between Easter and eternity. “Just as Arthur Stace sought to stir hearts toward eternity, we gather to celebrate the hope and salvation found in Jesus. May this Easter be a time of reflection, renewal and rejoicing in the promise of life everlasting.”

Eternity hung over these two Easter services, and we also had the opportunity to hear from Pastor Shannon Hopper from Nations Church as he delved further into how Easter has led to the possibility of eternity and what comes next in our journey with Jesus.

Thank you to our community for coming together to celebrate the importance of Easter with us. From the amazing Parents and Friends Association who ran a successful sausage sizzle, to the incredibly talented students who performed a drama, a dance recital, music numbers and live art! We also want to acknowledge the support from Nations Church with engaging worship and our keynote speaker.

Eternity is not a closed door. We encourage you to explore with those around you how the death and resurrection of Jesus might shape eternity for you.
