Exams Ahead? The RASC Has You Covered

With exam season approaching, the Kennedy Baptist College’s Research and Study Centre (RASC) equips our students with practical and effective strategies for success. Through focused workshops and wellbeing guidance, the RASC is empowering students with the necessary tools to tackle their exams confidently.

Tailored support for every stage

We understand that exam readiness can mean different things for various stages, year groups and learning contexts. We recently ran targeted exam preparation workshops for Years 9, 11 and 12.

Year 9: Getting ready for their first exams

Our Year 9 students attended their first exam preparation session, guided by the RASC. This session is designed to provide practical strategies and calm nerves with top tips including:

  • Spread study over time—don’t cram.
  • Be active in writing, speaking and teaching—don’t just highlight.
  • Use self-testing techniques and flashcards.
  • Sleep plenty, eat well, and avoid pre-exam panic chats.

Year 11: Building strong study foundations

Our Year 11 students chose from ten engaging workshops, including How to Prepare for ATAR English, Maths and Science Exams, Study Hacks, Unlocking the Art of the Memory Palace, Mindfulness, and How to Improve Handwriting. Before the workshops students watched a short video produced by RASC Teacher Librarians, outlining essential exam tips—from the night before, right through to post-exam reflection. We want to send out a big thank you to the Kennedy staff who administered the workshops.

Year 12: Refining strategies for final success

Year 12 students were encouraged to focus on refining their existing study strategies. Their session centred on planning ahead, stress management, and building on what they’ve learned over their years at the College.

At the RASC, we believe smart preparation leads to confident performance. We are proud to support our students as they grow in resilience, responsibility and readiness for success which is also supported through our Wednesday weekly after-school study tutoring.

We wish our students all the best as they continue to work hard during this exam season. We encourage our students to use this time wisely, preparing themselves ahead of time to feel comfortable with the exam season. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for help. Our teachers are here to support you through this time. If stress and anxiety are becoming a worry and you are seeking support in developing effective coping strategies, our school Psychologist, Ms Jess Plenty, is available for appointments. Please see your Head of Year to make appointments.
