The Olympic spirit came to Kennedy in Week 4 when students competed in the Interhouse Athletics Carnival. Graced with perfect sporting weather, the stage was set for athletes to display their passion and school spirit. The event spanned two venues: the State Athletic Centre hosted traditional track and field events, while McGilvray Oval featured participation-focused activities and House point incentive team games, including tug of war and hoop throwing. The commitment to teamwork was great throughout these contests, but there was also plenty of laughter to follow cries of victory from around the oval.
At the State Athletic Centre, athletes from all houses showcased their talents, making for a thrilling track and field competition across all age groups. Participants were not only competing for house points and pride but also aiming for a spot in the Interschool team for the Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC) carnival.
Congratulations to Falcon for taking the shield home with a score of over 1700 points across the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Carnivals. Harrier was the best of the rest, followed by Osprey and then Kestrel. Full results, including individual commendations, are due to be announced at our next assembly on Wednesday 18 September.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the athletes for their dedication and House pride and to the Athletic Committee and Kennedy staff and parents for their support, making this a memorable event for the entire community.
