Kennedy Claims Third Place at ACC ‘C’ Division Athletics Carnival

Kennedy Baptist College’s Interschool athletics team produced an outstanding performance at the 2026 Associated & Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC) ‘C’ Division Athletics Carnival, finishing third overall at the WA Athletics Stadium on Tuesday 15 September. This was particularly impressive, as we were only promoted into the division this year.

Kennedy accumulated 1,574 points, placing behind Seton Catholic College and Mandurah Catholic College, finishing just 64 points behind second place and 25 points ahead of Prendiville Catholic College in fourth, reflecting the depth, consistency and determination of the team across the entire carnival.

The College also achieved several strong category results:

  • Third in the Junior Girls competition with 506 points
  • Third in the Senior Boys competition with 325 points

Kennedy’s third-place finish in the Senior Boys competition was particularly impressive, with the team finishing only 11 points behind joint winners Lake Joondalup Baptist College and Kingsway Christian College.

Individual Highlights

A major individual highlight came from Year 7 athlete, Seren Davies, who finished as the equal Under 13 Female Champion with 46 points. Seren produced an exceptionally consistent carnival, placing third in the 80m hurdles and 1500m, fourth in the 100m and 400m, and sixth in the 200m, while also contributing to Kennedy’s Under 13 girls’ relay team.

Kennedy was strongly represented among the carnival’s other leading individual athletes, who finished in the top five of their age groups:

  • Kirath Dhanjal (U13 Male) – equal 3rd
  • Issy Gerhard (U14 Female) – 3rd
  • Mwansa Chansongo (U15 Male) – equal 4th
  • Henry Zhang (U16 Male) – 2nd

Event Categories

Many excellent event victories took place throughout the day. Lucy Myhill completed an impressive middle-distance double by winning the Under 15 Division 1 800m and 1500m. Lilliana Gavranich added another Under 15 distance victory in the Division 2 1500m, while Annabelle Lim won the Under 13 Division 2 1500m and 400m. Samuel Sia, Harlan Jahn and Morrie Goodsell also claimed important middle-distance victories for Kennedy.

Kennedy’s field-event athletes made a substantial contribution to the overall result. High jump victories were recorded by Izaac Mundell (who just missed out on a new ACC record), Leo Bayliss, Heinrich Stander, Henry Zhang and Grace Knowles. Kennedy also celebrated throwing-event victories through Ella Johnston, Indi Gillam, Joshua Di Lazzaro, Sam Hort, Olivia Kirkby and Heinrich Stander.

On the Track

Lylah Wallace won the Under 16 Division 1 200m, while Henry Zhang secured first place in the Under 16 Division 2 400m. One of the most exciting moments of the day came in the Under 15 girls’ 4x100m relay, where Zakari Hart, Ivy Thompson, Milla Celesti Crosby and Allegra Jones combined superbly to win in 54.71 seconds.

A fantastic day of Achievement

While the individual victories and championship placings were worthy of celebration, Kennedy’s third-place finish was built upon the contribution of every athlete. Students willingly stepped into events, supported their teammates and continued to compete for every available point. Their conduct, encouragement and determination throughout the carnival reflected the values and spirit of Kennedy Baptist College.

Congratulations to every student who represented Kennedy, and thank you to the staff, coaches and families whose preparation, encouragement and support made the day possible. Our athletes can be extremely proud of both their results and the way they represented the College.
