Kennedy Students Race to Success in Busselton

Last weekend, the Kennedy Racing Team travelled to Busselton for the final round of the Adelaide University Pedal Prix Championship. The event brought together 45 teams from Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia to compete on the 1.6 km circuit through the streets of Busselton.

Teams of five to six riders worked together to complete as many laps as possible during the six-hour endurance race. With riders reaching speeds of up to 42 km/h and lap times under two minutes, the racing was fast, competitive and exciting from start to finish.

Unfortunately, a major crash late in the race saw our Senior Boys team drop from 3rd to 7th place after spending more than 30 minutes in the pits repairing the trike, losing 13 laps to their rivals. Despite the setback, the team showed great determination to get back on track and finish strongly.

Kennedy entered four teams in the S2 category (Middle School, Years 7-9), including two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams. Team Yellow produced an outstanding performance, finishing as the highest-placed all-girls team in the S2F (Middle School – All Female) category and claiming 2nd place overall in S2. The Kennedy boys’ teams followed and placed 3rd and 7th overall. Team Blue, the other all girls team, also raced strongly, finishing 10th in a highly competitive field.

It was a fantastic day of racing, made even more enjoyable by the many parents, families, and supporters who came along to encourage our riders. Thank you to everyone who supported the team throughout the 2026 season.

We are already looking forward to 2027, when we hope to compete in all four races and continue building our reputation as one of Western Australia’s strongest School based, Pedal Prix teams.
