Pedal Prix: Racing Into 2024

The Kennedy Pedal Prix Racing Team is looking forward to our best year yet, with plans to include up to two senior school teams and, for the first time, an all-girls team. This is an exciting sport and engineering contest, and we are garnering expressions of interest as we grow and meet our bold goal of competing in all three Western Australian races in 2024.

Pedal Prix involves students race around a closed, looped track, with the aim to travel as many kilometres as possible within a set time. Students use specially designed trikes to complete their laps and these vehicles are regularly serviced and repaired by the students themselves.

Our teams are made up of students from all levels, with roles including driver, pit crew, support crew, sponsorship coordinator, and more. Participating students will be managed by the Technologies Learning Area and will complete their tasks in co-curricular, after-school activities. These activities will range from doing engineering work on the trikes after school time to participating in approximately three race days a year.

If you would like to assist us in our ambitions and participate in this sport of engineering and athletic skill, we are now looking for help from parent, sponsors, and students – especially our incoming Year 7 students.

Please complete an expression of interest form if you or your child is interested in participating in or supporting this team. We are also holding an information session on Tuesday 13 February at 6.30pm, after our Year 7 Parent Afternoon Tea. This will be held in our Staff Lounge.

If you are wanting to make it to the information session, please email Mr Gunter before Friday 2nd February.
