Student Spotlight: Jordan

Student: Jordan Pescud
Year: Year 10
Graduation Year: 2023

Jordan is a Year 10 student who loves art fashion and being creative. She is quiet, diligent and really enjoys roller skating and crochet.

Jordan currently studies Visual Art, Fine Art, Graphic Art and French and she really enjoys her History studies. She said it is impossible for her to choose her favorite subject. Jordan loves Kennedy and mentioned that the Pastoral Care team is very accommodating and supportive, and over the years she has learned a lot about herself. Through Kennedy she has found a stronger grounding in what she would like to do with her life after school. She would have never considered textiles or history as proper possibilities to guide her into her future. She is grateful for the Arts Learning Area here at Kennedy who presented all these opportunities to her.

Jordan recently completed a personal crochet project and received two awards at the 18th Annual Atwell Gallery Youth Art Awards for a beautiful crochet dress she made this year. She designed and created the dress which was recently displayed at the Atwell Gallery in Alfred Cove. It will also be displayed at the St George’s Art Exhibition at the Cathedral in July. She has also been invited by the Atwell Gallery to display her work again in another exhibition and competition in September. Jordan said that without the Arts Learning Area she never would have known about the Youth Art Awards and exhibition. She would like to thank Mrs Kiely for encouraging her and suggesting that her work was a good enough level to enter. She has really enjoyed all her art classes at Kennedy and loved learning new skills.

Her advice to a Year 7 would be to not rule anything out too early – you never know what your thing could be. Take things slowly and do not burn yourself out.
