Term 1 College Assembly

Yesterday morning we had such a great time at the whole College Assembly. It was nice to see student’s faces without any masks.

We welcomed back some of the high-achieving graduates from 2020 to present them with Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards. We are very proud of their accomplishments and we wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

During the Assembly, we also took the opportunity to award current students for their outstanding final academic achievements for 2020. The top five students in each year group received House Academic Awards and Certificates of Achievement were awarded to students who have demonstrated an excellent standard of work.

The Academic Excellence Award is an award based on school grades. Students who have achieved A grades are considered for this award. Recipients of the award achieve an A grade in at least two-thirds of the subjects reported on at the end of each semester. Where classes are streamed, the College uses the school grade in order to recognize students who are achieving excellence in relation to their capability.

The House Award is given to the five students achieving the greatest number of A grades. The course average may also be used to differentiate results. This award also contributes points towards the House Cup.

The College introduced an additional annual award in 2020 – the Academic Commendation. The award is designed to recognise a student who through consistent or improved application to their studies produced a significant improvement in marks from one semester to the next. Congratulations to all award winners.

We look forward to a great year and hope that all students recognise the opportunities offered here at Kennedy.
