2025 Day 1 Arrangements

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the first day of Term 1, 2025, approaches, we want to ensure a smooth start to the school year at Kennedy Baptist College. Please take note of the following important details for Monday February 3, 2025:

Year 8-12 Students

  • Form Class: Begins at 8:15 AM. Students will have extended Form classes during Periods 1 and 2, with regular timetabled classes starting in Period 3. Please ensure your child is prepared for these classes.

Year 7 Students

  • Form Class: Begins at 8:45 AM, followed by the Commencement Ceremony at 9:00 AM – parents are very welcome to attend. Regular timetabled classes will commence in Period 4. Ensure your child is ready for these classes.
  • From Day 2 Onwards: Form class will start at 8:15 AM for all Year 7 students.

Timetables

  • Both new and continuing students can access their timetables through SEQTA.

Getting Here

At this stage, Murdoch University has civil roadworks until early February. Access has been closed to Campus Drive and Discovery Way from Farrington Road. During this period, the only entrance to the College is via Entrance G on Farrington Road.

Drop off and Pick up points (see map or below)

With ongoing civil roadworks affecting traffic around the College during drop-off and pick-up times, we ask for your support in the following ways:

  • Avoid Early Arrival for Pick Up: Refrain from arriving before classes conclude at 3.15 pm as parking along Access Road and Farrington Road is prohibited.
  • Adjust Pick up Timing: Consider delaying your pickup time. Pickup areas are supervised by staff until 3:45 PM, and the Research and Study Centre is open until 4:15 PM.
  • Drop-off/Pick up Points (see map):  off/Pick-up Points:
  • Location 3  Murdoch University Melville Cricket Club Park lot
  • Location 4  Windelya Road (via South Street) Utilising the new pedestrian access point along Farrington Road through the double gates near the Sports Centre
  • Alternative Options: Please consider using public transport or bicycle routes.

Transperth Bus Services

Transperth bus services to and from Kennedy Baptist College will commence on Wednesday, February 5. Families are encouraged to plan and arrange alternative transportation for Monday February 3, and Tuesday February 4. Please consult alternative stops (attached map) or use the Transperth journey planner.

SmartRider Cards

  • 5 February to 1 March: Students without a valid Student SmartRider can travel for free. (this applies to Transperth Services only)
  • From 2 March onwards: Students must have a valid Student SmartRider to travel for free or purchase a cash ticket. (this applies to Transperth Services only)
  • Students using the Kennedy Bus services without SmartRider will be charged for each trip.

Student Car Parking

  • Murdoch Soccer Pitch Car Park Refurbishment: There will be no student car parking available until Term 2.
  • Efforts Made: Despite exploring alternative parking options, no viable solution was found.
  • Students will need to make alternative travel arrangements during this period.

We look forward to a successful start to the 2025 school year at Kennedy Baptist College.

Mr Mark Ashby
