The Way – An Easter Message

Our Easter Services began with a creative and engaging student performance that brought this year’s theme, “The Way,” to life. Through a blend of music and drama, students told the story of a traveller lost in an airport, confused, searching, and unsure of which direction to take.

As the story unfolded, the traveller eventually found the right path, a powerful reflection of how we, too, can feel lost before discovering true direction in Jesus. The performance was both light-hearted and thought-provoking, setting a meaningful tone for the message that followed.

Easter invited us to reflect on a simple yet profound truth—Jesus is the Way. In His life, death, and resurrection, we saw the path to hope, restoration, and new life. This message was not only central to the Easter story but also shaped how we lived each day.

In a world that often offered many directions and distractions, Easter reminded us that true purpose was found in following Christ. He was the Way who guided us through uncertainty, the Truth that grounded us, and the Life that renewed us. Through His resurrection, we received a living hope—one that shaped our character, our choices, and our future.

At Kennedy, this truth remained at the core of who we are. We continued to walk in His way—placing God first, serving others with compassion, and nurturing young people of faith, purpose, and integrity. Easter was a meaningful moment to pause and realign ourselves with this calling.

This year, our Easter Services were centered on the theme “ The Way.” We are pleased to partner with the Faith Community Church worship team, who will lead us in worship as we reflect on the message of hope and renewal found in Jesus.

We also warmly welcome our guest speaker, Ed Surrey, whose journey of faith has taken him across continents in service to the gospel. Raised just south of London, Ed completed a degree in Psychology before marrying his wife, Sally, and becoming a Mathematics Teacher. What began as a oneyear trip to Perth to work for a church soon grew into six years, during which time they welcomed their children, Ed completed a degree in Theology and authored two books.

After five years back in the United Kingdom serving in church ministry, Ed and his family returned to Perth, where he now heads up CRU West, running holiday camps and school Bible studies designed to help young people know Jesus better. Ed brings a wealth of experience, a passion for faith formation, and a heartfelt desire to see students encounter Jesus in a meaningful way.

In 2025, Kennedy Baptist College was effectively led by a dedicated team from Cru West, who were instrumental in advancing the College’s Faith Development initiatives. This team expertly facilitated exploration of the Bible’s overarching narrative, guiding our staff through the profound themes of creation, the fall, restoration and renewal. Their approach included thoughtful discussions, resources, and activities that encouraged staff members to engage deeply with these critical concepts, enhancing their spiritual growth and understanding of their faith journey.

As we journey through this Easter season, may we take time to reflect, give thanks, and walk in The Way—with faith, hope, and purpose.
