Transform Cambodia: Kennedy Centre September Update

Hello Kennedy Family,

It has been a busy 2023 here at Kennedy Centre. Our kids are already preparing for the end of the Cambodian School Year with most moving into grade 5 or 6 over the coming weeks.

We recently welcomed 14 kids to our Centre as new recruits to the Transform Program. Our team and students are working hard to help them settle into centre life and school. They would love to have a sponsor to support and pray for them.

We were blessed in early July with a visit by students from Kennedy Baptist College. Everyone had an amazing time forging new connections and our kids learnt a lot through English pronunciation workshops guided by Kennedy students.

Kennedy Baptist College students also engaged with our local community, visiting the public school, and participating in our weekly outreach program – Kid’s Club. This takes place every Friday as we partner with older students from Centre 17 to go out into our local community. We engage with kids and families not in the Transform Cambodia program through activities such as storytelling and painting. We also help keep our environment clean by collecting litter.

Mark Ashby, Principal of Kennedy Baptist College, and his wife Susan also joined the visit to the Kennedy Centre. While here, they involved themselves in the Centre’s workings and made the opportunity to visit one of their sponsor kids and family at their home.

On 12 July we held “Open Heaven”, our worship meeting for all the Transform Family. All our staff, family and kids are invited to participate in saving souls through worship. This huge event exceeded the number of people allowed to gather in the lead up to Government Elections. But we didn’t let that stop us, instead we just held it over 3 sessions on the same day!

At Transform, we are always looking for ways to improve our curriculum and teaching methods. During the September school holiday break all of our staff attended a week of training to learn and improve on skills across many areas: Facilitator Skills, Pastoral Care, and our Refreshed Curriculum.

We thank the Kennedy Baptist College Family for continuing to support Kennedy Baptist Centre as we work to transform a nation.
